Wordle for Kids - Spellie

Are you a big Wordle fan like me? Do you get stuck into Wordle, Quordle, Octordle, Sedecordle or any of the other variants?

Did you know that there’s a child-friendly version? It’s called Spellie. It was created by a Canadian dad who felt his 5 year old could solve Wordle if it had words within her vocabulary range. This also means that Spellie contains age-appropriate words that don’t thwart their innocence! It has three different levels available daily. Here are examples of yesterday’s daily puzzles:

EASY:

MEDIUM:

HARD:

It also has the following settings to make it more accessible to students with different needs.

Though not specifically designed for children, another great Wordle variant is “Worldle” where you have to identify a country when given a silhouette. The site is ad-free so looks to be child-friendly.

Below is a screenshot, explaining how Worldle works.

These could be lovely challenges in your classroom. If you’d like QR codes to print so your students can easily access them, click here

If you’d prefer an editable version, click here to create a copy of my file in Google Slides (already set up for A4 paper).

Some things to note:
-The geography project is in the same format as that of my previous Rugby World Cup/UEFA Euros/FIFA World Cup resource packs
-Some of the objectives in the lesson plans include objectives from the Irish primary school curriculum. These should be easily adaptable to any primary/elementary school curriculum. These are the same lesson plans as in my UEFA Euro 2016 and FIFA World Cup 2018 packs.

If you're interested in this pack, you can get it for $3.50 (about €3.40) from my TPT store.

If you're an Irish teacher - there's also a separate pack with a leagan Gaeilge (Irish language version) of the posters, flashcards, bunting, project template and sweepstake kit available on its own for $2 (approx €1.95) or as a 166 page bumper pack with this English-language pack for $4 (approx €3.90). See the preview below for some of the contents.
